CHRISTMAS!

So to get in the spirit, while feeling depressed about how much i miss micheal bubles concert experience i decided to upload his wonderful voice , to make me happy, and make my blog have a ..ringtone..type thing.

Thursday, 1 December 2011

Ho ho ho..Okay slightly early..

Today im just feeling so "christmasy" even though no tree is up , or no decorations are around except a christmas tree stuck on the TY notice board made be Emma & Fiona.
Tomorrow we are seeing the "nutcracker" , come on? everyone should be feeling the spirit at this stage. One of our class members Laura, so its should be good to watch:)
Busy weeks keep coming , and the school musical *cough head of wardrobe cough* is coming up really soon.It hits the stage on Monday night, and this production is incredible!
Saying  that its after draining energy out of alot of people. Now i cant complain , i feel sorry for the cast, but I had to find all the clothes along with a couple more girls like Sarah bell. I can safely say for all of us , it has been stressful, and scary at times , I was having nightmares that they would have to go naked..Anyways it will all be worth it!
Saturday-rehersal , sunday-rehersal ,monday- rehersal , tuesday - rehersal.Okay wow sound slike alot but we need this time so im so happy we get all of it!
Also Kris Kindle and all the secrets are flying around TY as we all have a secret santy , yet knowone knows who theres is. I want to know who has me and I dont ....
Also Caitriona Eves a faithful Eriu girl, needs nominations for the "best student blog" award so here it goes

I nominate Caitriona for the "best student blog" awards.
Good luck ;)

DSPCA ..I miss you.

So for my work experience i went to the DSPCA.it was incredible.I miss it so much and my minds made up , thats what i will do when im older for sure!
The work they do is incredible and they dont even get funding from the government! they need 2 million euro each year to run the shelter and the get by , by fundraising but never reach the total mark. The money is only spent of food and supplies for each and every type of animal in the shelter.Cats ,dogs ,donkeys, pigs, peacocks, horses, ferrets, snakes and every other animal that was cruely treated or abandoned.
They will never say no to an animal in need of a home but right now they dont have money anymore.Personaly I think everyone should be donating to them.
The work experience programme is only for animals lovers who just want to spend time with animals.Dont go if you "just got" or where"offered" a place , unless you love animals, because i can say that you will not enjoy yourself if your not in it passionitly.
I on the other hand put my heart into the week and have agreed to volunteer in summer when i reach 16 :)
Im acctually really excited to be back there! Of course ,Naturally i got attached to every animal there, but I realised when leaving they are alot happier than animals out there alone in a cold place.
Anyways take trips there, they are open to schools, and everything else and if you are intrested in a dog, contact them and ask for "TAYLOR" my personal fav.Shes a cute boxer dog and it broke my heart leaving her.
I had a great time , and will deffinitly be going back!

"Misery" ( book name, thats all..)

okay so for english our  teacher asked us to blog about a book we read that we found good.
I read "Misery" by the great horror writer Steven King.
Its not for the faint hearted , because there are some  parts quite gruesome, but its a book you wont want to put down, or read in a dark place..
Basically A great writer called  Paul Sheldon gets in a car accident and wakes up in a strange womans house called Annie Wilkes.
Annie loves a group of books paul wrote about a woman called Misery , but when annie finds a manuscript in pauls bag , of his new book, which kills off Misery ,shes not happy.
Oh, and she also has a bad backround of murders and other crimes, so being in her house isnt great.
Paul learns over the time hes there to do as she says , or she will punish him...Alot.
Read it for your self , its a great book , but some of her punishments can get out of hand ( e.g "Hobbling" him when he tries to get away.
I love pauls caracter. Being paralized from the waist down , in the home of a crazy woman , he still doesnt take anything bad she says , even though he knows he will pay for it, he sticks up for himself as she compares him to a "trapped rat".
The book is written very well. The horror drags on , up to a battle between them both at the end that you wont see coming! Steven king has great detail and imagary in the book , that horribly makes you feel like your there.
Over time the book progresses into more horror and gruesome events , which keep readers ( like myself) glued to the pages to see will Paul survive? Will he kill annie even though he is powerless in a wheelchair?
The ending was Horribly amazing. Not a ending I had waited all the (aprox 400 pages) for , it was even better than what you begin to think as Annie takes charge of helpless paul , who just wants to get out of this cold shack up in the mountains , that he is sharing with a Crazy crazy woman.
Give it a read for yourself if your like me and love a bit of a scare when you reading :)

Back to school...WORK EXPERIENCE!

Were back to school two days now, and usually id be slightly bored ,or "under the weather" but not this time . We have a week to look forward too, our work experience.
Im going to the DSPCA and im so excited. Its so good for me to have gotten into a place that is related to the type of work I want to be involved in when im older:)
Vet Clinic Staff
Source
Organsing  work isnt easy .We have contacted, emailed, & called so many places to get this far ( one out of two weeks needed!).We have to have certain things that they want us to have.Like for me i need an anti tetnus shot to protect me from dog bites etc.Luckily I had it done but i still need proof! thats going to be hard to find..
You need school insurance letters, written confirmation that they actually do have a place for you ,so on.At least I know that next week is sorted, now i just need to worry about the second week!

"Running Around Like A Paycock!"

Yesterday ,The tired Tys got on a bus and headed into town, at about five minutes past nine in the morning.
First we went to a WB.Yeats exhibtion in the Library. It was so intresting to see all of his school reports and his actual writing and books. Then we headed to a Museum where we saw Bog bodies and Alot of intresting things about celtic ireland and Ancient Egypt!
Then we ran around having lunch on grafton street, which was a great 45 minutes , i must say.
Then we all headed off to see " Juno and the Paycock". We read this play in school but seeing it on stage was totally different.I didnt understand Johnnys character until we saw him on stage...
It was a great experience to see it on stage in the Abbey Theatre, and I dont think any TY group have done it?
It was great fun ,and i cant wait for our next TY outing :)

Blog Action Day..Food,Nom.

So for Blog Action day 2011, The topic is food. Something alot of us take for granted. When we think "food" we imagine heading to the kitchen and making up something , or not being able to choose from all the chocolates and crisps in your presses. For other people in the world, this is not the case , and today we are given the time to learn  ourselves and teach each other about the struggle some countries have ,just for the smallest bite of food.

For example i looked into Africa.
Africa is a very hot country because is straddles the equator. It also passes numerous climate areas .Imagine trying to grow crops there?imagine watching them fail? With a huge population of 1,022,234,000 , there are so many people depending on crops.Another way they get food is trough cattle and sheep. If you cant feed your cattle ,they will die of starvation, and therefore cannot feed you. Imagine watching your sources of food die?Keeping in mind this is only in some parts of Africa.Still, It opens eyes, about the struggle of food for some people.
When I get home from being out or at school , my mam asks me what i want for dinner.I pause because I can choose, there is so much to choose from.Children in poorer areas, come home and dont have anything.Their parents cannot give them anything, because there is nothing to give.
In the Asian, African and Latin American countries, well over 500 million people are living in what the World Bank has called "absolute poverty".Every year 15 million children die of hunger.
Thats alot.

One in twelve people worldwide is malnourished, including 160 million children under the age of 5. -United Nations Food and Agriculture.
About 183 million children weigh less than they should for their age.

And lastly ..Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.
When i looked at these facts, I was shocked..and felt bad. I Never Knew and I think that not many of my friends did either.
When we go into the kitchen and see that our brand of cereal or chocolate isnt there,I think we will think twice about complaining. At least its there, at least it was easy to get ,and you will get your 3 meals a day,and be satisfied.
i only looked into Africa. Many other courtries suffer from this too.I hope my blog has opened your eyes ,and helped you understand how important food is, and not to take it for granted ,as that is the message i wanted to get across in my blog after looking into Africa and its starving people.
#FOOD ,#BAD11

B.A.NAN.A.S

yay fun walk., tomorrow. Our dance  is a laugh ,we have so many problems that we just laugh at them. All tys are put a stops to make sure that people know where they are walking, but it means we dont do the walk. cant complain. We are now rushing to make signs and faces and everything else  for tomorrow and its not going a swiftly as we planned in our heads. So many opnions are being shared which is great, but we cant come to desisions at the end of hearing all of them.Me and caitriona dont even have our costumes ready..Wow now that a blog it , we are so un-prepared.We have asked about 6 different teachers to let us practice and every class we change some part of it. And now we have loads of moves, not enough time, its just not going to go well ,but being in ty makes you take things a little easier. So we will laugh any embarrasing  moves we end up doing off , and go run off to our stops.RUN FROM THE SHAME!

"tripping outside the classroom"

Me and Isabelle finally got ahead with our geography project , trip around the world with 24000 euro between us both .We go to two second world countries , two third world and two first world countries.
Were going to Sweden,Russia,China, kenya & tanzania , mexico and chile.

finding flights and hotels is hard, and it kind of makes you want to be actually going to these countries .
We have four weeks to finish...

Last friday , Whoever wanted ,had the chance to go to the "Solheim Cup",ladies golf. It was such a good experience,to see how powerful women are , I  feel they are better golfers! Also my highlight of the day were the crepes they made there. five euro for a soft batter dripping wet with hot chocolate sauce ,melting marshmellows and brown buttons.Did it for me anyway.

MOOSIC!

In music class , we are doing an opera. Its mad, we are changing a scene from friends into a dramatic opera scene. We are doing three.
1."The one where Ross is fine"
2."theres no left falangie on the plane"
3."the one where Ross finds out"
Ross is in them all because hes such a dramatic character that we decided he would be the best to act out . We are all in groups . Me ,Saoirse and alswynn are in charge of music. We are playing on piano an opera version of  "il be there for you" and of course.. "smelly cat" so that should be intresting. Orla, Courtney, Aoife and Aimee are in charge or costume and set design , so again..should be intresting. Then there are directors for casting and deciding what words we will actually be singing out in opera.
Then who ever is left will be preforming so its all alot of fun.
There will deffinitly have to be pictures or videos of that!

Musical

WELL DONE LEAH REDMOND! The new Maria in the sound of music!

what we do..

After getting our results, they have been forgotten. Not a word has been spoken about them from teachers, students or most importantly my parents. Its great to know its all over.Old news.
In TY classes we actually do ,do some work.In english we read plays and in october we are going to see the play we are reading. In Science we are doing the BT young scientist.I love it. We are almost ready to submit our idea so it finally feels like TY. i always thought of ty as the year for young scientist, because i love science.Me and Emily are doing really well for two people who decided on their idea the day we were writting it up!
In irish and french we practise speaking the langauge so for next year our oral skills will be improved at least. We do all options in rotation , so i have art up till christmas ,then i will change to home ec and then i will eventually change to Tech. I have one option that i will have all year as do the rest. I have Art, so it will never change.Basically i have All art until christmas, then i will have art and home ec and again art and tech. I Love art so this is no problem.
Our music class is sooooo fun. Right now we are doing an opera work shop which is fun.
then we are still doing our pilates , dancing and photography which is pretty fun too , but a couple of weeks in we  are getting tired, and our muscles  are acheing from the pilates , but we might as well take part if we are getting to do classes like this while other years are studying for exams!
Work expo is coming up in november , im off to the DSPCA :) very excited , and to keep us busy until then we have a geography project and an irish one too.
TY's making me tired , but its  so worth it because we are all so active all day with double PEs and all the debates about mini company ideas , which is alot more stressfull than people may assume. To find a product that your whole group is happy with is hard, then we have to prduce it , market it and then the buisness files and stuff, i wont be doing that anyway!

Carlingford :)

Carlingford was so amazing. We arived early on monday morning and went straight into "laser tag".Laser tag is when we are given a laser gun and shut each others LED head bands, when we are hit ,the LED would light up or our gun would make a noise. We were crawling up forests and hiding behing wood.was brilliant. Next we played "crystal maze".We had to play loads of mini games and earn crystals. We crawled trough a pitch black tiny maze, had to get all our group across water, get mines out of the ground (kinda like mine sweeper)and a rope course. It was great. Then it was dinner time ,and then off up to the forest at 8 , to do the night line . (blindfolded trough a forest in the dark). That night we had free time , so we sat in the downstairs common room with the boys school who where also there, and sang and played music.

Next day We went rock climbing and ab-sailing.it was pretty high but really fun and not scary at all. Then we went oriantiering. It was a hike up huge hills for about 3 hours, i didnt really like that one!

Leaving was sad because we were having so much fun ,and we really wanted to get in the water, but the winds were heavy. The Instructors wer great, and so much fun ..i miss them!

WE LOVE YOU "ARLINGFORD"
