I read "Misery" by the great horror writer Steven King.
Its not for the faint hearted , because there are some parts quite gruesome, but its a book you wont want to put down, or read in a dark place..
Basically A great writer called Paul Sheldon gets in a car accident and wakes up in a strange womans house called Annie Wilkes.
Annie loves a group of books paul wrote about a woman called Misery , but when annie finds a manuscript in pauls bag , of his new book, which kills off Misery ,shes not happy.
Oh, and she also has a bad backround of murders and other crimes, so being in her house isnt great.
Paul learns over the time hes there to do as she says , or she will punish him...Alot.
Read it for your self , its a great book , but some of her punishments can get out of hand ( e.g "Hobbling" him when he tries to get away.
I love pauls caracter. Being paralized from the waist down , in the home of a crazy woman , he still doesnt take anything bad she says , even though he knows he will pay for it, he sticks up for himself as she compares him to a "trapped rat".
The book is written very well. The horror drags on , up to a battle between them both at the end that you wont see coming! Steven king has great detail and imagary in the book , that horribly makes you feel like your there.
Over time the book progresses into more horror and gruesome events , which keep readers ( like myself) glued to the pages to see will Paul survive? Will he kill annie even though he is powerless in a wheelchair?
The ending was Horribly amazing. Not a ending I had waited all the (aprox 400 pages) for , it was even better than what you begin to think as Annie takes charge of helpless paul , who just wants to get out of this cold shack up in the mountains , that he is sharing with a Crazy crazy woman.
Give it a read for yourself if your like me and love a bit of a scare when you reading :)
